Meet The Founder
Kayla Hill is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Karnelian Luminare™, a creative ecosystem dedicated to supporting artists, storytellers, and creative entrepreneurs while developing original stories and cultural experiences.
Kayla’s work sits at the intersection of storytelling, creative production, entrepreneurship, and legal infrastructure for creatives. Her career reflects a multidisciplinary path that blends artistic practice with strategic development, recognizing that sustainable creative work requires both imagination and structure.
Kayla began her creative journey in theatre and media production, where she developed a deep appreciation for the collaborative process behind storytelling. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video Studies from Purdue University, studying film, theatre production, and media development while participating in creative programming, directing, and production initiatives. During this time, she gained experience in areas such as digital media production, stage management, and narrative development, building a strong foundation in both visual and performing arts.
Her work in theatre included technical production and stage management roles in both educational and professional settings, contributing to productions such as Eurydice, Lady Windermere’s Fan, Stew, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and other stage productions that required detailed coordination between creative teams, technical departments, and performers.
Over time, Kayla continued expanding her creative work across theatre, film, and media development. She has worked in creative collaboration environments including writers’ rooms and production teams, contributing to the development of scripted storytelling projects while continuing to explore narrative writing across multiple mediums.
Alongside her creative work, Kayla pursued advanced education in law and technology, earning a Juris Doctor with a concentration in Intellectual Property Law and later a Master of Science in Cybersecurity Risk Management. This legal and strategic training deepened her understanding of the structural challenges artists and entrepreneurs face when protecting their work and building sustainable ventures.
Today, Kayla brings together her creative and legal experience through several initiatives. She leads Karnelian Luminare™, where she is building a creative ecosystem that supports artists, develops original storytelling projects, and cultivates cultural programming and community engagement. She also created KayRenee Law, a legal education platform designed to help founders and creatives understand the legal foundations of business, intellectual property, and entrepreneurship. In addition, she operates The KTPL Law Firm, a virtual practice where she advises entrepreneurs and creative professionals on intellectual property, contracts, and business development.
In addition to supporting artists and creative entrepreneurs, Kayla is also developing a growing slate of original storytelling projects across theatre, film, and audio production. These projects explore narrative worlds rooted in culture, imagination, and mythic storytelling, reflecting her belief that powerful stories can connect communities and shape cultural dialogue.
Through Karnelian Luminare™, Kayla’s vision is to build a creative ecosystem where artists are supported in developing their craft, sustaining their work, and collaborating across disciplines—while also contributing new stories and imaginative worlds to the broader cultural landscape.
Her mission is to create spaces where creatives feel empowered not only to develop their ideas, but also to build lasting creative legacies through their work.
